miramar woods MiraMarket Bag

Perfect for a day at the Market, grocery store or used as a Beach Tote, this Market Bag pattern features a unique, geometric and mesh design.

The pattern calls for optional use of worsted weight acrylic yarn doubled with cotton thread to help reinforce the bag to prevent stretching with frequent use.

Photo tutorials are included making this a beginner friendly design.

15” diameter for bottom of the bag
13.5” for the body height
19.5” total height when weighted.

PATTERN NOTES:

* Cotton Crochet Thread is to be used along with the yarn as a reinforcement, which prevents the bag from stretching out too far with frequent use. * The CH2 at the beginning of the first 15 rounds does NOT count as the first stitch – you will work the first DC in the same stitch as the CH2. You will be joining rounds in the first DC loop rather than the top of the chain. (pictured below)

Place stitch markers on every 12th DC (10 total)

Round 17: CH4 (acts as first 1 TC, 1 CH space) skip one space, TC in next space. *CH 1, skip 1, then TC in next space*x3 CH 1, skip 1 then TC2TOG in the same space for next three spaces *CH 1, skip 1, then TC for next 8 spaces. CH 1, then TC2TOG in the same space for next three spaces* 8x.

NOTE: Use the stitch markers as guides to begin your 3-TC2TOG clusters (the stitch marker note the middle of the cluster.)

Ending the round: *CH1, skip 1, TC in next space* x3. CH 1, skip 1 then TC2TOG in same space for next 2 spaces, TC in next space. Keep last two loops of that TC on your hook, SLST into third chain loop of the joining stitch and pull through all 3 loops to join. SLST into next CH1 space to start new round.

Round 18 (creating the diagonal lines): CH4 (1 TC and 1 CH space) skip 1 space and TC in next CH1 space. *CH1, skip 1, TC in next space* x3. CH1, skip 1 then TC2TOG in the second space of the cluster below, TC2TOG in the same space for next two spaces (last TC loop and next CH1 space from previous round) *CH1, skip 1, then TC in next 8 spaces, CH 1, then TC2TOG in the same space for next three spaces* 8x.

Ending the round: *CH1, skip 1, then TC in next space* x3. CH1, skip 1, then TC2TOG in the same space for the next 2 spaces, TC in next space. Keep last two loops of that TC on hook, SLST into the third chain loop and pull through all 3 loops to join. SLST into next CH1 space.

Rounds 19-31: Repeat round 18, making sure to start the new CH4 in the first CH1 space of the previous row to continue the diagonal lines in the bag.

Round 32: CH1, SC evenly around.

Rounds 33-36: Switch to color A: CH2, DC evenly around. Join into top of first DC loop.

Round 37: Beginning the handles: Place stitch markers at the 30-60-90-120 stitches. CH2, HDC in next 30 spaces, CH55, skip 30 spaces then HDC to join into 60, HDC in next 30 spaces (up to 90 marker) CH55, skip 30 spaces then HDC to join into 120 SLST to join.

Round 38-42: CH1, *SC in next 30 spaces, HDC in the next 55* x2, join.
